Our first “not related to games” news is that Motors TV, which broadcasts a wide selection of motor sports, including FIA WEC, Blancpain Endurance Series and the Tudor United Sports Car Series is now free to view for many people in the UK with a Freeview HD decoder.
Motors TV had previously been available on Freeview HD, but only to viewers with certain Internet enabled devices.
Motors TV can be found at channel 71 on “standard” Freeview HD , although a re-tune of your decoder may be required to view it, as the channel only became available last week.
It’s also worth noting that the streamed channel (Arqiva’s Connect TV service) still exists on channel 240, so it’s important not to get mixed up between the two if you don’t have a compatible device.
This weekend, Motors TV is showing live motor sport events, including V8 Supercars from the iconic Bathurst 1000 race, FIA WEC from Fuji (delayed broadcast), NASCAR Nationwide Series and highlights of many other forms of motor racing, including the German ADAC GT Masters championship and WRC.
Unfortunately, those viewers with non-HD Freeview won’t be able to view the channel, as well as those not served by a transmitter that broadcasts “COM7 Multiplex”. Viewers can check the Freeview website to see if the channel is broadcast in their area.
