Slightly Mad Studios have announced yet another delay to the launch of it’s much anticipated racing title.
The good news is that the new delay is less than two weeks (for European gamers, at least), which for many will be a lot easier to stomach than the 4 month long delay announced in November of last year.
The release date of 2nd April will also mean that US and EU gamers will get their hands on the title at the same time.
Slightly Mad Studios Ian Bell announced the delay in an official statement earlier today, citing the need for extra development time. However, with both Battlefield Hardline and the PC version of Grand Theft Auto 5 launching at around the same time, it’s hard to imagine that this didn’t have some bearing on SMS’s decision to delay Project Cars.
It would seem probable that Bandai Namco and Slightly Mad Studios will be pushing to get the game out during the Easter holiday period to maximise sales. Delaying the game further into the late spring / summer window would also appear to be unlikely, considering the potential for a seasonal slow down in game sales during this period.
It’s also worth noting that whilst the game will now be launching on Valve’s Steam platform at the same time as the boxed PC and PS4 / Xbox One versions of the game, no announcement has been made with regard to the launch of the Wii U version of Project Cars.
